House with blacksmith's workshop in Middelbeers

This house with a forge at Doornboomstraat 14 was built in 1905 as a residence and forge by blacksmith Frans Jacobs. He established a grocery store here but focused primarily on ironwork and wrought iron. Middelbeers had several forges at that time.

In the early 1950s, his son André (Dré) moved into the former forge and had a new one built, to the left of the rear of the house. Horses were shoed in the courtyard.

A bicycle and moped shop was also established in the building. After his death in 1971, the business closed, and it is now used only as a residence.

Over the years, the owners have renovated the house while respecting the original details. This has preserved the original condition as much as possible.
