Meandering through the municipality of Oirschot, you'll find the stream called the Beerze. You can take many long walks along its banks. Start, for example, at the Onze Lieve Vrouwe Kapel, the Heilige Eik, or the Spoordonkse Watermolen.

Heading north, near the Kampina, new meanders have been created in the Beerze and "toad pools and fish steps" have been installed. Here, it teems with frogs, crested newts, leeches, and dragonflies. Moreover, the water reservoir has halted the desiccation of the heathland landscape of Kampina further downstream.

Finally, on the estate of Baest, we see the Groote and Kleine Beerze in their former glory. In addition to the canalized Groote and Kleine Beerze, the original watercourses have been preserved here for the landscape park. This results in a unique piece of nature where many rare plant and animal species benefit.
